RE: [Chrysler300] Car storage

We have cat also—and go nuts trying to keep it away from cars.   She is a jumper and loves it on cars—and on rafters above the cars.  Never had a car that was so insistent on being up there!  Was on roof few weeks ago and there she was also!  Got down by herself even!

Have used moth balls for years and still have remnants in the storage building.  Wife can always  tell when I have been up there!  Lately have used the dryer sheets and also use irish spring soap—in cars but not on me!  In fact some just came on sale and may pick up some more!

Also have well sealed building with one overhead door and one walk door and have d-con packets by all openings.  Haven’t seen mouse in inside car in years.  Parts cars outside are well eaten up though it seems.  Cat loves to stay inside one of them also when she is out.

They worked for me years ago when I had a car stored in an outbuilding.  I used them in the interior and trunk.  But, if you have a hood insulation pad, remember to place them on top of the air cleaner.  I didn’t think of that, and had mice nested in the hood pad.  Fortunately, they only chewed up the hood pad and not the wiring.  And the dryer sheets kept them out of the rest of the car.  But, I drove the car home, parked in the garage, and wound up with mice in the house.  Lesson learnt.  Got a couple cats after that too.  No more mice.

I used moth balls and dryer sheets the first year the 300 was back home. Never again for the moth balls. It took half the summer for the moth ball odor to disappear. Have used dryer sheets for the 10 years subsequently -- never a problem. My wife's summer daily driver is stored in a pole building for winters, in the country, with holes in the ratwall big enough to let a large raccoon through. I know critters get in that building. The dryer sheets have worked perfectly.

Ran across this on a tractor forum and thought it good advise.

Anyone tried this in their 300 when storing for the winter seasons?

I always used several coffee can lids w/moth balls in them, couple in the front and rear seat floor and a couplein the trunk.

Yes mice, every time I store my boat I go buy a box of dryer/fabric softener sheets and I place the sheets all over the boat, storage compartments, seats, live jackets, and so on. I always use an entire box and I have never had a mice problem. Cheap anti mice insurance for a $2.00 box of dryer sheets LOL
Plus in the spring time my boat smells like it just came out of the dryer
