For all of you who were in attendance at the 2005 Auburn Hills Meet you may remember one of the speakers at the banquet. His name was Richard (Dick) Burke and he was one of the Ramchargers, the suspension guy.
I'd met Dick when doing some commercials with our cars for Chrysler a few years prior. Actually we met via letters and phone calls. At the
Museum where he was serving as a docent he heard I was there and sought me out and it was because of this he spoke that evening.
As a young man working at Chrysler he had purchased one of the early C300 cars from the motor pool and drove it for several years until selling it to his neighbor. At that time he lost track of the car but did tell me it was equipped with a Torqueflite and had dual 6 volt batteries due to starting issues.
Dick was a very knowledgeable and friendly person and we remained in contact until his passing a few years later. I have a copy of the Ramchargers book and had always hoped to have Dick sign it for me. Unfortunately that was not to be.

- I tried to find any information on the "Ram Chargers" and
stumbled on this article. Very interesting reading. There were also
pictures of the group in including James Thorton.

Dave Thornton, a member of the
Ramchargers team, has written a book, "We Were The
Ramchargers." Dave is also traveling the country putting on a
presentation on the Ramchargers, with over an hour of photos and telling
of great stories about the Ramchargers. If you have opportunity to attend
one of Dave's presentations, I highly recommend it.
