RE: [Chrysler300] 1960 to 1962 Parking Brake Cable part number 1946413

I agree with John. Same thing, verbatim . What fails on them? Maybe a repair kit or partial repair is possible? I have never had one fail;  It is just the inner wire?

I'd be interested in having one of these cables, as well as the shifter cable that goes from the push button assembly to the transmission for 57-61 cast iron tf cars.

As a member of our Clubs Reproduction pert committee I have been working on various projects with different vendors. One of those projects was the emergency, or parking brake cables for our cars. I have completed the 63-64 parking brake cable project with Bob Merritt’s help, and had these cables on display at the spring meet, along with the ordering information. You can also view these on the clubs web site by looking at Enews number 12, it also explains how to order a set for yourself. I was asked to source the parking brake cable from the same vendor for Gloria and Alan’s 300F. This cable is not being reproduced by anyone in the aftermarket, which unlike the 63-65 cables which can be obtained at most all major parts supplier like RockAuto, or NAPA. These replacement cables for the 63-65 cars will be functional, but incorrect in appearance as they are rubber coated, or have a PVC jacket. I had the 63-64 cables reproduced in the correct wire wrapped cable, and as the spring 300 meet participants saw, they are of very high quality, with all the correct parts in place. Well on to the 60-62 parking cable project, since Gloria and Alan’s parking cable was no good on their F, Don Verity loaned me his very good cable to be sent out to the vendor to have patterned. After several email and phone meetings with the owner of the company, he has elected to not do the project. We even offered to pay his development costs and would then buy a quaintly of these cables to stock in our club store. But currently as of this time, for his own reasons he has elected not to do the project. I asked who is main competitor was and he told me that his competitor sent all his patterns and tooling to China and no longer makes any new patterns for cables they do not stock. He also told me that that particular vendor was mainly a GM supplier anyways. I have been asked by the Club management and the Board of director to gauge the need for the club to pursue this project further. I may have another vendor that would be willing to do this project but we as a club need to decide if this is an item that will need and if so in what numbers would we consider ordering. The cable part number is 1946413 60-62 All models; Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth, with the automatic transmission, except the Imperial. As an additional note we on the reproduction committee are also having the small rubber coated plate that covers the cable as it passes through the floor board reproduced as that fits all the cars from 1960 to 1965, and beyond. Please reply to me directly, or to the list server, and I will attempt to gather the data, and overall interest in this project.
