RE: [Chrysler300] JOY - aussie style ?!

While it is not exactly a total 300ly reply.

Last week it was our Annual 'Bay to Birdwood' old car run/event, now in it;s about 30somethink year. And it swaps from old to newer cars each 2nd year - this year it was the older ones - pre 1957 - about saw number down from usual 1500 to about one thousand cars do the approx 20 miles up, big picnic/display, then late a/noon do 20 miles back to the City/home.

And re 'joy' - it was pleasing/surprising to see so many young girls/women driving the cars - one early 1900s Veteran, plenty of 20s Dodges and T Fords, a WWII Army Jeep not onlyu drivenm by young girl, three other happy sm,iling girls in it too. On other years before there have been girls beside driver- or in the car/cars - but this year never so many doing so many different things - like driving - and doing as great job. But best of all they clearly enJOYing it all.

Sort of takes me back to when I a teenager and me and my friends all had old 20s cars as our driver cars, and all our girls were young like us, and eJOYED being in old cars.

So maybe our there there are coming generations of young that never knew our old cars - 300s -, but will love them just same as we did/do when they encounter/experience them?
And on that note, TV News reported 70,000 people lined the suburban streets leading to base of Hills/countryside to watch - they make it an about 3hrs of Sunday morning/ritual to watch them go by as they wave and cheer them on. So 70,000 is another big number out of population of about 1 million living here in Adelaide?! Old cars eh !!??

Christopher in Australia - much of south eastern winter grain crops suffered one of driest ends to season, atop frost damage - and it a cold wind outside after day before was warmest day since March - but better 300ly weather/driving ahead soon.

Went to Reny's Cruise In (Belfast, Maine) Friday afternoon in the 300L.  Parked it, and went to Reny's shopping for a new winter jacket.  Came back to the L, and there was a dad with two boys looking at the thing pretty intently.  They looked inside and at the dashboard, and they studied the taillights and then the front.  They wanted the hood up to see what was down there.  And they were either incredibly polite (I mean incredibly) or really interested that this thing wasn't a Chevy or a Ford, and they wanted to know about it, and then its heritage.

They were either really polite or really interested to see the photos of the 300B I once owned and took to several of our meets, and with those photos, the cross ram motors and the astro-dome dashes and the fins and toilet seats that abound at our meets.  They hung out with me for about 15 minutes.  They really liked the car and the history and the stories.

That gave me joy, which is what I report here.  Of course, I'm also reminded of the Joy who sat in front of me in high school home room--all years--and who wore White Rain perfume.  It was distracting.  I think the the thoughts she and it cause would be classed prurient.  But I digress.  The joy last Friday at people excited about letter cars was neat.
