After reading Doug Mayer's account of his 300L and the interested folks I thought I'd share this with all of you.  It is not necessarily Letter Car related but it was because of a Letter Car that I was there and got to experience this.

Last night I couldn't sleep thinking about all that went down at my High School Car Show.  Many memories of my earlier life were keeping me awake.  Once you've read my comments that I sent out to a few friends yesterday and then read the article on the link you many have a better understanding.  For me all cars are living things and have stories to tell and I'm glad I made the effort to attend this show.  Had I not what is below would have been unknown to me.

Here is what I wrote last night.

As some of you know I normally don't attend car shows with a car. There are a couple of reasons for this. I don't like to get stuck at a location for a good portion of the day and I don't like the politics that play into awards. Regarding the latter part of that statement I feel that your car is the “trophy” and that should be good enough.

One exception to this is the Anaheim High School Car Show which has just completed it's fourth year. Last year was my first visit to this show and my first time back on campus in 48 years. Needless to say it was a real trip down memory lane walking the halls of the school and better yet seeing many of my classmates from those times of long ago.

I took our '55 Imperial to that one and yes I did win a trophy for the best '50's car. This one meant something to me because of where it came from. It is one that I'm proud to won.

Today I attending the fourth show and my second. This time I took our '57 Chrysler 300C coupe and to cut to the chase on this, yes once again I won best Mopar. The trophy is really cool as they are not your typical purchase

Early this morning while in like someone made a comment about a '38 Chevy coupe a few cars in front of us. He said that the former owner found the car recently. I commented that I had a friend who's older brother had a 38 Chevy and had restored it when we were kids. It was painted red and of course any older guy that had a cool car was a cool guy.

Once parked I walked over and saw an article out of the local newspaper on the owner, his wife and it was the same car that I'd been around. I won't tell the story but you can read it in the link attached. I thought the story of this car and it's history with the Laster family was very special. See if you agree.
