Re: [Chrysler300] 300F power steering hose

Hello Group,

While out with my wife for a short summer's evening ride in July 2013, my hose blew. With duct tape and a quart of P.S. fluid, we cruised the 10 miles home just fine, although the engine compartment was an unholy mess. I called and spoke with either Gary Goers or Bob Hayen - response was that Gary wasn't stocking these hoses anymore, and that they were available more inexpensively through auto parts stores. I picked up a replacement at Napa, and installed it, incorrectly, under the ram. In retrospect, I should have kept the old hose because, by the look of the uniformly deteriorated rubber, it was likely the 53-year old original. So I see Bob J's comment about purchasing Gary's hose in '11, and also that Gary is stocking them now, but don't know if his current inventory is factory original design.

I took some pictures of my Goers 300G PS hose installation. I can forward to those in need.

Some close-up pictures (Why can’t we bring this list server into the 20th century???) would really be helpful here of each end and the routing. I think a lot of the problem is the orientation of both ends into the reducer.
Get that part wrong and the hose has to be twisted somewhat to orient the ends correctly into the pump on one end and the sector on the other end.
Once over the ram, it needs to go nearly straight down with a slight bend in the tube to drop into the sector IIRCC.
And the tube bend on the pump end needs to be closer to the pump to avoid interference w/the battery tray.

The hose I got from Goers in 2011 for my 300G fits just fine, and is installed just like the factory going over the ram intake. No complaints.

gary's pressure hose does not go up and over the ram. it is a after market hose . i think it fits just about all the cars, 57 -66

you might have to give the line that goes into the pump a gentle tug to get it to not hit the battery tray . but all in all it works!

Does Gary’s pressure hose have fittings to allow routing up and over the driver’s side ram (like the originals) or is it the same as other aftermarket hoses that are designed for the single carb engine and must be routed around the driver’s side carb? This would apply to F,G, dealer or s.o. short ram H, J, ram K.

I would check with Gary Goers on the PS hose. That's where I got mine in 2011 for my 300G.

Wish I did, Jan as I could use one also.
Another repro project??
Should be the same for F and G
Maybe even J & ram K??
Would need to find an original for a pattern though.
Anyone have a Mfg'r in mind that could do this??

a 300F? NAPA, Auto Zone or other?
Thanks.
