RE: [Chrysler300] Macungie DETAILS - Fall Meet

Ron,

Thanks for responding to John’s questions.

John,

Let me add some details on the show.

First, to differentiate, there is the “Fall Meet” and then there’s the “Fescht” car show.

If you are attending the Fall Meet, you will need to fill out and send in the “Mail in Registration” form attached to the Fescht forms. This form needs to be sent to the Joppa, MD address. Please fill in completely.

If you are attending the Fescht for all three days, send those three forms along with the Fall Meet registration form to the Joppa, MD address no later than June 6th. This gives Gloria and the Fescht committee enough time to sort out the attendees. Gloria will send the Fescht registrations to the Fescht. The Fescht committee is not affiliated with the 300 Club. The Fescht Committee’s task is to organize more than 1300 cars for each day, and organize where each registered vehicle will be parked on the show field. The reason there are three different registration forms is there are three separate Fescht Sub-committees; one for each day. The show field is set up differently for each day. (They have been doing it this way for more than 50 years.)

If you are attending the Fescht show only one or two days, you will send your Fescht registrations directly to the Macungie PA address, and your Fall Meet registration form to the Joppa MD address. Be sure to fill out the correct Fescht registration form for the days you will attend.

If you are not sure which 300 you’ll bring, just fill out the form with the “probable” one. It can be adjusted at the gate by simply changing the year on the window card.

There is only room for 12 Letter cars under the tent (one of each year + Hurst). If you’re one of those selected to display under the tent, you are requested to keep the car in the tent for all three days. It is a logistical nightmare to remove just one car without moving a bunch more. There is a big field adjacent to the tent for all the other 300’s, Letters and Sports, and all years as long as it is 25 years or older. Then, adjacent to those 300’s will be rows of other registered Chryslers.

For those cars left under the tent, there is overnight security for all nights.

Each participant who has a car on the show field will receive a participant’s award for each day. A portion of your daily pre-registration fee covers these awards. Some past awards were a golf umbrella, insulated cooler bag, fender cover, set of glasses, fleece blanket, etc. There is a different award each day. You will receive a ticket each day for your award, and it must be picked up around 3:00 PM each day. They will announce when the give-out is open, just look for the long line inside gate 1.

Other than the cars under the tent, your car should be removed from the show field each evening. This is because overnight, the Fescht sub-committee must change the layout for some sections of the grounds.

A “Daily Driver” car is construed to be the Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, or whatever you drove to the Fall Meet that is not registered for the Fescht and is not 25 years old. Those daily drivers must be parked outside the gates and occupants must walk through the admission gates.

For those Letter Cars that are under the tent, those owners should ride into the show field with someone else, or obtain a pass which myself or Tony will distribute. Each registered car entering the main gate is allowed to contain up to 4 occupants (not counting those stuffed in the trunk).

I cannot stress enough; the Awkscht Fescht car show is Pre-registration ONLY. No day-of-show registrations.

I have been attending this show since its inception (1964), only missing one show (1993).

If you need more information, please call me, I’ll be glad to help you out. My number is on the registration form.

Happy Moparing,

Mark Souders

John -

I've been going to ths show since 1990. Here's the deal, as I see it.

The show is held at a huge park. After driving thru the main entrance, there is an open field on the left. This is where the Featured Car is displayed. At the back of the field, near the food vendors, bandshell, etc is where the tent is located. If your car is one of the 300s displayed under the tent, it sounds like it will have to stay there Fri-Sun. If you are just driving a 300, you will be able to park on the open field in front of the tent. You may come in and leave at any time.

All the other antique and classic cars will be parked in the areas in front, and to the right and left of the open field. Check out this map: http://awkscht.com/parkmap.html to see what I'm talking about. The area marked CROSLEY is the open field. The tent is labeled Featured Car Display on the map.

One thing that is imperative is that you register for this show soon. That means before July 1. There is NO day-of-show registration. It's 15/day. You have to fill out a separate registration form for each day that you plan to be there. So if you plan to just be there Sat-Sun, you fill out the Saturday and Sunday forms and mail them in. All this is on the Awkscht website.

The cutoff years vary by day. But Sat-Sun it's around 1990. If you decide to bring your daily driver and it's newer than 1990, you have to park in a spectator lot. If you register your 300C, but decide to bring your 300F or your 1970 Oldsmobile for that matter, they're OK with that. When you drive in, they will have your packet at the gate. All you have to do is cross out the make/model/year of the car and write in whatever you're driving.

There is also a $10 Chrysler 300 Club Convention fee, which is sent to the club.

Any additional questions, please ask.

If any of this is at odds with what the organizers have set up, please chime in as well.

Ron

My apologies in advance for not being able to figure this out from the info provided.

I just received my summer 2014 300 club news in the mail today, which included a special flyer which appears to be a registration brochure for 3 days (Fri, Sat, Sun) @ $15 per day.

I'd like to come to this show, and I'd like to bring a 300.  I'm not sure which 300 I'll bring, and I can't tell from the info provided what is a 'featured car', vs what is a car that is allowed on the show field, vs what is a 'daily driver'.

I don't want to drive any of my 300's all the way there and have to park in some paid lot with a bunch of Toyotas, but I also don't want to have to sleep in my car or on the ground next to it for 3 days if I'm allowed into the car tent.

There doesn't seem to be anything listed in between.  It appears you're either in a featured car that is trapped under the tent for 3 days, or you're in daily driver parking somewhere outside the event.

Is there no middle ground?

Do I just attend as a regular car show guy having no affiliation with the club in order to park on an old car/show car field and still be able to come and go each day?

Any help/explanation appreciated.
