The knob and shaft are one piece/part

Reach up under the switch, on the bottom you will feel a little protrusion sticking out.

(it may be on the top), IIRC, but it is there, feels like it has a tiny spring on it.

Push it up/in and it will release the knob and shaft,  and you can pull it right out.

To reinstall, just slip it back in till it locks in place i=once again.

Taking apart my dash to repaint and install new pad. I expected an allen screw to hold the headlight knob onto the switch body, but there is none. So how does the switch come apart to remove it from the dash? Being a pull on/off switch, doesn't seem logical to pry the knob off. Thanks
