Agree with Bob's comments on the Wilcox' Hurst. As John Begian in his G convertible, and I in the F, along with Mark Obermann riding shotgun with us, pulled off I-44 in Lebanon, MO for gas, we pulled into a Phillips 66 station. I looked across the pumps to my right, and saw a beautiful Hurst 300. I knocked on the window, introduced myself to Shirley Wilcox, and asked if she was enroute to Bentonville - answer "Yes." Jerry and Shirley had left their home in central Michigan very early a.m. that day, and we still had some hours' driving ahead of us. So we sandwiched the Wilcox in their Hurst between us - John leading, and me as caboose. The Hurst looked as new, and ran just as well.
We were really sad to hear the news of the crash, but were of course glad to hear that Jerry and Shirley suffered no really serious injuries.
And, a big thanks to Ray and Jo Ann for hosting a wonderful Meet. Another great excuse to get the F out of the big city and onto the open road - especially running tandem with John and his G, and with Mark keeping us company along the way. My first trip to Arkansas, and enjoyed the beautiful countryside, and the warm hospitality of all the folks we met in and around Bentonville.
