Re: [Chrysler300] "300D" at Mecum Denver

It reminds me of the tragedy that’s appears going on here in a mid-Michigan city (I’ll withhold names unless someone wants to know).

I ran into a guy at a local car show last fall with his red 62 300 sport.  He had a funky console in it and dingle-balls handing from the top of all windows.  He was proud that his 300 sport was customized, (The paint was nice, but the interior looks like something that would come out of the back end of a bull or cow).  After seeing my H, he stated (bragged) that he’s restoring an H, but instead of back to original, he says he’s chroming everything underneath, all suspension pieces, and everything under the hood.  I asked why he would do that to an H and his reply was that he wasn’t going to ‘ruin’ his sport.  I told him he should do that to a Newport or another 300 sport.  He yelled at me, walked away mad, and I’ve never seen him since.

There are some people in this world that I will NEVER understand.

I look at it as a well preserved restoration project.

Hi,Not my style, but a whole lot more loved and easier to restore than the rusted 300D on Ebay that sat in the dirt for years. I’m happy for every 300 that survived. At this point, most cars that made it this far will eventually get restored. It’s amazing how few are left for being such great cars.Sam Cohen | President | scohen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:scohen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> | (510) 482-4420 x222 | 449 15th Street, Oakland CA 94612<https://www.google.com/maps/place/449+15th+St,+Oakland,+CA+94612/@37.804946,-122.2702854,17z/data="">>[ES_color_horizontal_logo_email-signature_v21]From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of EMills_ATC millserat@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [Chrysler300]Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2015 7:36 PMTo: William Leahy; ldmiklas@xxxxxxxxxxxxx: chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: Re: [Chrysler300] "300D" at Mecum DenverAt least as nice as many of the Chebby tuck & roll specials - too bad he did not put a nice flathead Ford motor in it, but at least he kind of chopped the top. Overall looks nicely done, but WHY?. Is George Barris still alive? It will be interesting to see what bids are like - to me it would have been worth a lot more in correct original condition, but you never can tell. It certainly stands out (like a sore thumb).Best, EdEdward Mills Antique Tractors 1930-1960 Antique Cars 1960-1985On 6/24/2015 9:23 PM, William Leahy bleahy@xxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:bleahy@xxxxxxxxxxx> [Chrysler300] wrote:ouch...but to each his own : )Sent from my iPadOn Jun 24, 2015, at 7:11 PM, "ldmiklas@xxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:ldmiklas@xxxxxxxxxxx> [Chrysler300]" <Chrysler300-noreply@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:Chrysler300-noreply@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote:There is an interesting "300D" consigned to the Mecum Denver Auction June 26-27.Gotta see it to believe it !!
