For Canadian members, and anyone who may want to venture north of the US border and take advantage of our low dollar, Shell Gold is ethanol free in Canada. Checking websites, they appear to be the only major retailer selling ethanol free gas up here.
I run all my old cars on Gold for that reason, and because it's 91 octane.
I don't know if it's been the same in the US, but gasoline prices have been up and down almost weekly this summer varying between $.97 and $1.15 per liter for regular. Premium typically runs about $.15 / liter higher (Canadian dollars). We're caught in a crude oil glut, so it's not crude supply; "refinery issues" are cited most commonly as reason for the fluctuations. Interesting how refinery issues happen so often just before long weekends??
Adjusting for currency and measurement system differences, Shell Gold is currently US$3.69 per US gallon here.
(For anyone curious enough to check my math: Gold was CDN$1.25/liter when I filled my '66 300 this morning; the exchange rate is about
US$.78 = CDN$1.00 this week; and 1 liter = 0.265 US gallon (a US quart and a liter are almost the same volume)).
'66 300 is going to a show and barbeque an hour south of Calgary tomorrow. Weather here is perfect this weekend, after two days of very destructive hail storms this week. Will take the 300F and '66 Charger to our Northern Mopars Club all Mopar show next Saturday.
One final observation on the carburetor discussion, Calgary's humidity levels are generally drier than Arizona - nowhere near as hot, but very dry. The dryness coupled with sitting for long periods during our endless winters, results in a need to replace accelerator pumps in my old cars every two to three years.
Glad to hear last weekend's meet was such a success! I hope to retire in about two more years and look forward to being able to attend some of our meets.
