Hi all - beware Canadian old car ads! As you probably know, Canada changed to the metric system in 1977, and vehicles sold here from 1978 on have odometers and speedometers that measure speed and distance in kilometers (1 km = approx. 5/8 mile; 100 kph = 62 mph). Cars sold in Canada prior to 1978 are in miles / mph.

 

Websites like Kijiji Canada are geared to selling newer cars, even though they have collector car sections. It's quite common for sellers to fill in the "Kilometers" field on these websites with the numbers shown on their odometer without converting miles to kilometers. (There is also likely a significant proportion of our population that couldn't do the conversion, but I digress........).  So, the 190,000 could be kms or it could be miles.

 

Buyer beware!

Did you miss the part about the mileage?  190K kilometers which is 118K miles.

It could be a very good deal IF the car is as described. Disappointing on the other hand that someone would sell a letter car so cheap............

 

On another note, our local Northern Mopars Club is hosting our all Mopar annual show tomorrow. Troy Simonsen, former Ramcharger and Chrysler engineer is our special guest. If the weather cooperates and the rain holds off, we should have 150 cars. It will be interesting to hear Troy's stories regardless. Cars can be dried off, and we have listen to Troy with beer and burger inside.

If anyone is interested, see KIJIJI  Ad ID 1094629436 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Asking price is $31,500, and I'm assuming this is Canadian funds, which translates to about 24K U.S. funds - could be a good deal.
