RE: [Chrysler300] Battery Tray Color

I agree w/Carl.

Prior to ’60, the battery tray was an extension and welded assembly as part of the fender liner, then a rubber tray installed to fit under the battery w/it’s own drain tube.

Fellas, I believe that it varied by year and even possibly by car line. I can state for a fact that ‘63 was body/engine bay color on top and sides and generally just primer underneath (gray primer on my examples) for both Chrysler and Imperial. This is because the battery tray perhaps was primed for the parts bin stock and attached to the unpainted fender when the car was assembled. It was painted body color as part of the assembled front clip. Not much body color paint if any got on the underside of the tray. Black trays in ‘60-‘61 = possibly different assembly line process?

Glad to hear that Dan, as i repainted mine black never thinking it was body colour. Maybe '60 was different than '62

Hey Dougerrrrrrr;

I am 99% sure it is the same as the engine bay.

That is how I have always done it and have yet

to hear it was wrong.

Hi Group,

Replacing the battery in my 62 Sport and will clean and repaint the battery tray.

Question: Should the battery tray be the same color as the engine bay or black?
