They probably allow attachments, but limit the size to some really small number, like 50k. Download the pic from the email and check the size.

Yes. The software on the server will remove all images. The reason is likely because any non-text content can contain malicious code. Considering that a few of our members have been victimized by hackers, I'd say that having Yahoo's servers filter out potentially hazardous content is a good thing.

I'm certain the Yahoo listserver removes all non-textual characters that represent an image from every message it processes, as well as attachments. No matter how you embed an image in a message, the image is represented (internally in the message) as an image and the listserver will strip it from the message when it processes the message on the inbound side.
