RE: [Chrysler300] RE: 300 G heater hoses

SOME of the 300Gs had copper tubes, not all. The 300G under hood photos in
both the Car Life 8-61 article, and the factory issued 300G engine shot
clearly show above the manifold rubber hoses.

The G's had copper tubes and the F's had the hoses.
The open hood engine picture in the 300F supplement clearly shows the hose
routing.

Exactly Bob! Where I am too. Thanks for the comeback. Maybe now in 2015 it
gets settled. I personally think it was done both ways, just from
experience, but have nothing to validate that. We might look at old photos
when cars were new ,see what we can see. Why I say both ways, I have seen a
car with a formed clip that holds the two hoses, attached to a ram bolt I
think? . But someone trying to do it right might have taken it from another
car . For sure I have a very low mileage F from factory , purposely never
touched anything on it for 30+ years, the old I'll get to it someday thing.
Correct Terra cotta color on it too..which is a similar thing. Lots of
variations on that..

Have a great holiday too!

John et al,

The 300G heater hose routing has been something I have not been able to pin
down as correct as long as I've had my G, and that is many years. I have
period photo's of 300G engine compartments that show the hoses installed
above the intakes, no copper, just hoses, in two configurations, one going
around the air cleaner and one through the middle, in addition, I have
another photo that shows them underneath the intakes. Hard to tell though,
if there is copper there, I suspect there is.

Happy Holidays!!!

AHA!!! Brings up the copper lines. Were they on all F/G cars? I have had a
few for sure untouched F with them, I see many at club meets without them. I
have a few without them, but replacement hoses. All original hoses are
pretty much gone now? Anyway? I think replaced in early days. At least some
had copper taken off, hose run end to end. Just a service job in 60's. Hot
topic w George, in the way back. And whether under the rams w one hose, if
hoses were stock. The clip on some cars says two hoses. . Maybe settled long
ago, but still up in air for me..

There is a few pre-bent hoses off water pump housing. Not sure if 5/8 hose
will make that tight bend into copper lines

Good point, Jerry
I recall than now as well.
Might be worth looking into.
Maybe the club or a member could get a decent price break on a bulk order
and make it available to the members.
I'd be in for at least 3 cars worth

I believe I was told one time that my "H"'s ribbed heated hoses are the same
as those used on a corvette, which I believe are still available. Perhaps
one of our club members with better knowledge of this subject can better
answer it.

Kit???

It's 5/8" standard heater hose.

I doubt if you can find the older ribbed style

Just make sure it's black and you'll be fine.

Unless you Club concourse the car, no one will know the difference

Goers has the correct corbin style clamps in a 'kit'

And pick up the correct style batt hold down and use a black battery and
your engine compartment will look about as stock as it can get.

Good Luck!!
