Hi John and group,

 

The only engine in the 300L was the high performance version of the 413 cid which had 360 hp.   There were no engine options.  The L had the higher lift cam which raised the horsepower over the standard 413 which had 340 hp.

 

Don't now how the owner came up with that statement that a few came with a 426.  No 300L came with the 426 engine.

I saw this 300-L coupe for sale on Craigslist, and was wondering if the claim that the 426 V-8 was an option on an L -  I never heard that before, and I thought that the answer may be of general interest to the group.
