Re: [Chrysler300] 300-L with 426? For sale on Craigslist

No such thing as a Matching Numbers car before about 1968 as i recall. But I can see a fender tag that should be decoded to see what you had in the beginning. And as I recall there are numbers steel stamped on top of engine that will give you a clue as to what it was to start with. Nice looking car, but my guess is its an original 413 - maybe rebuilt - or someone changed engines if engine was originally a 426.

I've never heard of or seen any '65 300 with anything other than 383 or 413 as original equipment. Stranger things have happened as we all know but I thought the 'L' was only available with one engine?? He's probably either mistaken on what's in it or it's been replaced at some point, maybe even early on.

My two cents.

Just in case you needed to know, this was sent from my iPhone.

Hi group,

I saw this 300-L coupe for sale on Craigslist, and was wondering if the claim that the 426 V-8 was an option on an L -  I never heard that before, and I thought that the answer may be of general interest to the group.
