RE: [Chrysler300] survey for owners of C, D, E

Hi Bill, Look at the picture of the 300C with 1/2" external rope** through
bolt eyes holding hood closed on Chrysler archive.

At NM meet someone had a C with a fancy side to side, out to fenders ,
elaborate, no fail "double latch" "for racing"; Bruce Brownell had this
happen to him , too.

Hard to see out too. No thanks. Just imagine.

C,D E hoods impossible now. Maybe 10k--- if you can find one . plus
windshield smashed.

** subtitle on picture says " speed run with the 300C" "they encouraged the
hood to stay closed"

Did a second catch on my restored C and D , decided why not share results .
But up to you.

I am sensitized as it happened to me back in 65 or so , on a 327 chev
powered austin healy, at about 50 , resulting in a crash. And cut head.

Apparently the pin wiggles under high speed , pulls up hard only at high
speed, higher the speed the more it pulls. And vibration wiggles it , if it
shakes / works free of first catch, and enough wind caught, it blows right
through the second 57 safety catch like a slide hammer,, which is a second
pin grabber , a few inches up, same pin, in the stock design.
