Re: [Chrysler300] 1962 Chrysler 300 Series 300H Convertible Spectacular See Video | eBay

I viewed and drove this car in February of this year (prior to the Portland auction).   It ran very well.   The restoration had taken place over a number of years, so while Merle Wolfer had taken an interest in the car, he was not involved for the entire period of the restoration process.   I noted two notable divots in the paint on the hood; otherwise paint was very nice.   Top not brand new but top and windows worked fine.   Car has A/C.   Gas gage not working.   There was evidence that foam seat cushions were beginning to disintegrate.   There was a spot on the carpet that was a different shade than the rest.   The grid in the driver's footwell was a repro for a 60-61, which is to say it did not have the etched texture that was correct for '62.   Everything else was in order as far as I could tell.   The seller and his agent are good folks, but, at the time they were looking for much more money so I moved on.

Thanks, John - clearly has a ways to go to get to $70K/reserve‎. Looks like a nice car and similar to George Cone's old red H convert that I saw at his house in 1976 (when I bought a set of 15" G/H/J wheelcovers from him) but I don't think his had A/C.

Hi,

This is the one that was sold for $70.000 in Portland last month at the auction. It was sold by Dr. Martin Mueller of Gresham, Oregon. Merle Wolfer had it listed for sale at $125,000 on Page 29 of WPC News June/July 2016. Merle was a close friend of Martin and supervised the restoration at least 15 years ago.
