I was at this auction last year to buy the kopecky 59 pink on pink dodge. I overbid the car because I really wanted it. Finally let it go once it was 15k over its pre auction for sale price. Went to high bidder as it was just him and I for that last 15-17k of bidding and asked why he bid so high given the real value of the car. His answer: His wife said she liked the color pink and liked the car so he bought it for her.

You never know what will happen in an auction environment. These cars have reserves so the seller is protected.
