Re: [Chrysler300] 300G exhaust manifold repair

Bob,

There is an outfit just on the outskirts of my town where the welder considers it an everyday event to weld cast iron. A year ago I had him weld repair a rather large cast iron piece on a wood planer that had broken. He says large pieces are tougher than small because you have to work so hard to get the temperature right before the weld will bond. I have no idea whether he's done a manifold, but I would certainly have the confidence to have him give it a shot even if he hasn't.

As for price, I'll just say that more than once I have handed him more money than he said the price came to because I'd be embarrassed to pay only what he had asked.

I'll give him a try for you if you are interested in sending it to me. Nothing to lose but the cost of shipping back and forth. You could also send a photo first to have him look over. Call me if you're interested in that.

I got a phone call from a gentleman with a 300G that has a cracked right side exhaust manifold.  Knowing how hard it is to find a replacement, can anyone suggest a facility that knows how to repair manifolds?  I realize it is a very specialized job that is outside of the abilities of most welders, but may be possible.  Has anybody found someone that knows how to do the job so it holds up over time?  If it is even possible?  I'd like to help him out if I can, and if you happen to have a replacement manifold you'd like to part with, let me know.

Thanks!
