Not all synthetic materials used in earlier fuel pumps, lines and carburetors were soluble in corn gas. I think those that fabricated those earlier devices with ethanol-resistant materials were more lucky than enlightened. Who knew? I am convinced that those that supported and mandated corn gas did know but cynically ignored the effects on letter cars and anything else left over from time when “gasoline” was extracted and formulated from oil (and TCP, TEL, detergents & etc.). Ethanol remains a lousy motor fuel at any level. Follow the money. I hope and expect to see motor fuel made great again. We use a clear fuel filter to check for debris. My five year old brand X needs replaced. I will go through my receipts and find fuel pump manufacture or marketing brand.
