Re: [Chrysler300] 413" engine.

I knew that 413's were in trucks and motor homes well past 65 but did not know any details, so I found this posting on one of the web boards.."That 72 413 has a good block and crank. It wasn't a waste to buy it. The industrial 413s from the early 70s were cast with the 440 water jackets, so they can be bored out to standard 426 or 440 specs. The block will also have the extra cold weather stiffening ribs along the cylinder banks. Also, it should be a forged steel crank." There was also mention of it having heavier rods and that you would need to use a good set of heads, but hopefully this helps with your research.

Weren't 413's used in industrial and motor home applications well after 1965? But slightly different configuration if I recall correctly. Careful if its not from a car 65 or earlier.

The info at this link does show that J is 73, but I understand that 413's were not in production in 73.

Hi group.

The engine in mine 300 1962 is a 413" and has been taken out for water has come in to the oil and other problems. To be on the safe side I have start looking for an other engine. Found one with this written on it: J 413 TH. 1016. I have not seen it in real, so I wonder can someone tell me what these markings meen. The odd thing is that the guy sais it´s from 1972 but surely the last 413" was in 1965 and then came the 440".
