RE: [Chrysler300] 300 G Coil Capacitor

A good picture of the Interference elimination capacitor properly installed on a coil may be found at Figure 1 on Page 1-11 of the 1964 Service Manual and may be viewed at: http://www.jholst.net/64-service-manual/accessories.pdf

I could not find a Chrysler Part Number in the ’64 Parts Catalog, also viewable at www.jholst.net or a similarly-shaped 0.3 to 2.2 microfarad capacitor online. I’ll leave the shopping to you but this e-Bay item should physically work: and be easily mounted to the coil bracket. http://tinyurl.com/yco6gxmv The Motorcraft DC13A Radio Frequency Interference Capacitor should be a common auto parts store item. I’ve seen online prices from less than $10 to more than $20. I would not expect a bargain at the chain stores. Be sure to connect the capacitor lead to the primary side of the coil. The ’64 Service Manual indicates the alternator has an internal noise suppressor.

If anyone has a better source or picture of an original capacitor on a G, Val would probably appreciate it. The apparent extended length of the 1964 capacitor suggests it may be a more powerful ignition noise suppressor and the old point-and-condenser ignition system may require same.

Same number for Valiant, Plymouth, Dodge , Chrysler and Imperial. My guess is that the same condenser was used up until electronic ignition took over...but I may be incorrect on that.

Some car also had a CONDENSER attached at the Coil. Not sure what that part number would be.
