Re: [Chrysler300] Fwd: Nice 300G Convertible At Auction Tonight

It was a 60 Plymouth fury not a 59. One of probably 3 known with a factory 383 cross ram and was an export Mexico auto show display car. Two guys ran the bid from 130 to 190. Same owner owns the G convertible for tonight. The G has age on the restoration. The interior is showing it as is the steering wheel. The wire wheels need to go. Unless there is a lot of drunk money in the room, I’d expect it to hit 135 pre commission.

I’m forwarding this message from Keith Boonstra, who’s at Hershey this week - specifically at the RMSothebys auction yesterday and today.

There is a beautiful red G convertible going over the block here at Hershey tonight. RM is estimating it to hammer at 125 to 150K. I do not know who is offering it.

If anyone is interested in watching any of the auction live online, you can go to rmsothebys.com and open the Hershey auction page. You will find a button to click on that page that says “Watch Live”. The auction is scheduled to start at 5:30 today with miscellania taking up perhaps the first hour before the cars come on.

The G is Lot 381, so that might bring it over the block at something like 7:30pm.

I sold a couple of cars there last evening. Interesting to sense that there is some considerable softening of values on the grand old classics. Not surprising as the biggest fans of those are aging out, and they are selling instead of adding now. That happens.

Interesting on the upside, however, was a 29K mile restored gold ‘59 Plymouth convertible. It hammered at 190K to the sound of wows throughout the audience. That’s 209K the buyer paid with the premium. Mopars of that era don’t lack for collector interest..
