Speaking of replacements, I recently bought one for my 65 300, and it comes with adapters to use with the flare fittings on the cars prior to 62. The only modern part about it is a low pressure switch.

Part Number 1742766 appears in the 1961 and 1962 Parts books. I do not have any parts books earlier than 1961 or later than 1962 to check.
