RE: [Chrysler300] 64 oil pan removal

Hi Allan,

When dropping the pan, I always jacked the engine up before unbolting the pan. Lifting it about the width of a 2”x 4”.

Then very easy to remove the oil pan. I have not done it on a 1964 Chrysler, but have done it many times on our 1957 300C. Then I put wooden blocks between the frame mounts and the engine mounts.

Good Luck,

John in Portland, OR

Subject: [Chrysler300] 64 oil pan removal

Greetings all, I am trying to remove the oil pan from my 64 K following the instructions in the service manual.

May be this outline was written for another Chrysler! I cannot get the pan to rotate to remove as directed. I do have the crank positioned. The pan is jammed with no more room for rotation. I cannot see how the manual directions are possible.

Am I missing something? It appears that I will have to lift the engine. Possible drop the trans down at the same time. Any advice?
