I did talk to Gary Goers a week or two ago and he is stable and gaining strength and mobility. He has an prosthesis leg beginning above the knee and uses a walker when walking as the new knee does not automatically pop forward and his left leg has some strength and control problems. He has his truck rigged up with hand controls so he can get around in that. And, he has left-over items from his business and collections to go through and market. I also have a little red Volvo C-30, an ’86 Chrysler Le Baron T&C rag and a ’05 Dodge hemirango that have electronic dashes that can be switched back and forth between metric and “English” units. I always thought it strange that the inches/feet/yards/miles/ounces/pounds etc. system was called “English”. This explains it: English units are the units of measurement that were used in England up to 1826 (when they were replaced by Imperial units), which evolved as a combination of the Anglo-Saxon and Roman systems of units. Various standards have applied to English units at different times, in different places, and for different applications. It appears the Colonies elected not to go in step with Mother England. Rich B. But like in many new cars, you can switch the vehicle system to either imperial or metric. Still hard to see the kph but we switched after 30 yrs of imperial, so i can still think in both. Rich Hi Rich - 1977 Canadian cars were the first year to have metric speedometers and odometers. Trivia - I have a Canadian ‘79 Cadillac with metric speedo and odometer. That’s all the law initially required. As such, the heater/ac control dial is in Fahrenheit. (it’s finally warming up here - a month late!) Wondering what year Canada switched to metric speedometers and whether Chrysler sent Detroit-built 300’s SOUTH across the Detroit River into Ontario with metric speedometers?? I think Canadian-built 300’s actually say Saratoga on the front fenders. Then wondering if the Canadian Chrysler plant built any Silver Editions? Real busy here in lockup. It's absolutely beautiful to my eye and I had hoped that the owner, past or present is know to the club. I only want to learn what the wheel sizes are as the stance to me is perfect.
