Re: [Chrysler300] Silver 300 in the picture

Yes, John, The Gimli Glider. Landed on an old WW2 airstrip an hour north of Winnipeg. While there were drag races going on! Nobody hurt. Not sure if you could do that now with fly by wire. Another thing that escaped metrification is Pizzas. Go figure. My kids use the metric side of the tape measure when cutting 2x4's and 4x8 sheets, but it all works out.

Also I remember plane crash / emergency landing when an American jet pilot told them to put in 2000 gallons he got 2000 liters . Ran out of fuel . Did not believe his fuel gage as he asked did you put in 2000 and they said yes . Similar stuff about altitude km and feet , I think they went back to feet .
Putting both scales on , is best thing I guess . Newton / meters, Kg / meters for torque , still have no feel for that . No one here does .

Ryan,

I’m older than you, born and always lived around Toronto.

I understand “metric” just fine, and do the math in my head, but RESENT the hell out of it,

I remember our lame-ass government telling us we HAD to change because USA was changing,

Rich, it was a long process switching to metric here in Canada, there was and still is a lot of push back on the idea. It was about 1977 that road signs were changed from mph to kph and cars were then required to have speedos that complied.

I was 6 years old and remember my Dad placing these stupid little clear decals on the face of the speedometers on our ‘65 300 Sport and a ‘60 Desoto Adventurer in order to pass annual inspections.

The 65 and later 300’s in Canada are a little different, my 65 had different interior panels, different drip rail trim, and of course a red engine instead of turquoise. I presume earlier cars were also slightly different. I don’t believe they built letter cars in the Canadian plant at all, they were all imported from US.

Wondering  what year Canada switched to metric speedometers and whether Chrysler sent Detroit-built 300’s SOUTH across the Detroit River into Ontario with metric speedometers??  I think Canadian-built 300’s actually say Saratoga on the front fenders.  Then wondering if the Canadian Chrysler plant built any Silver Editions?

Real busy here in lockup.

Yeah, really nice car!!!  So that would have been in the Muscle Car section of that CIAS at the Toronto Convention Center that year, 2014. Thanks Allan.

The Silver edition (available only in metallic Silver on black leather interior with black leather top) was another Chrysler mid-year addition. Since it was included in 1964's 2-door hardtop production (13,401 vs 3,022 for 300K), we can't tell how many of this fine variation were built.

The  1964 Chrysler 300 Silver Edition was in the 2014 CIAS Canadian Auto Show in Toronto.

It's absolutely beautiful to my eye and I had hoped that the owner, past or present is know to the club. I only want to learn what the wheel sizes are as the stance to me is perfect. Not easy to confirm, but I think the rear wheels are larger than the fronts.

Sure it's not Toronto, Ontario, Canada?

"Canada" is often shortened to "CA"

Does anyone know who the owner of this 300 may be? It was shown in Toronto, but the picture states Ontario. CA.
