Lip balm also works great on snaps for convertible top boot covers (it’s the same size) as well as boat canvas snaps and zippers. Especially near salt water.

I carry a tube of lip balm but I don't use it for my lips. I use it for all places that need a little sliding lubrication. The bolt and strike of any door you will encounter including your house.  Hood, trunk, and any place where two pieces slide together. Been using it for decades.
