Re: {Chrysler 300} Re: SMS

Was just reading the complaints on the BBB site for SMS. https://www.bbb.org/us/or/canby/profile/specialty-auto-parts/s-m-s-auto-fabrics-1296-22017298/complaints

Seems to be an effective strategy but I posted a review first. There are only 5 reviews there. I'm surprised they have a B rating with the number of complaints filed.

If you wish to expedite service with SMS, read on...

Used them for full interiors on 3 of my cars. Wait time on first two cars was about 14 months.  Most recently a 59 Caddy.

Caddy order was placed two years ago. Same story; they shipped  me a few outsourced items like carpet  right away—door panels and embossed parts not so lucky.

After being told repeated false completion dates and sometime outright bizarre excuses (“fabric manager is not well”), I had enough.

The secret: submit a free complaint on the better business bureau website.

After submitting the complaint, my seat covers, embossing and door panels arrived within 10 days.

The owner of SMS, Doug, handles all the complaints and gets things done. I read previous complaints submitted on the BBB site and it looked like he was responsive and customer outcome was satisfactory.

Good luck!

Yes, I got 3/4ths of my order. I'm waiting for embossed seat upholstery. It's fine if it takes a long time it's just that they constantly lie about it. Every 4 weeks I ask them and they say it's in 2 weeks. Several times they said they are working on my material and I'll for sure get it soon. I knew it was going to be a problem going in but since it was just embossing material I thought it might come quicker. It's just simulated stitching, nothing fancy or involving mylar.

I'm sure the way they look at it is if they send you part of your order, you won't cancel it after waiting forever for one part of it. I do know that people that can travel to their location, get quicker service.

Nick.

If the piece involves labor on their part (door panels, etc), it may take most of a year, if not longer. But if it's just bulk fabric that they have on the shelf, they will send it out in a few weeks. I was really surprised when I ordered a yard of 55 Desoto cloth and I received it two weeks later. On the other hand, my 58 Plymouth door panels took over nine months.

That sounds about the way they were with my door panels for my 70 convertible. Initially they told me it would be about 6 months for them but it was almost 2 yrs before I finally received them. This was back in 2011 when I ordered them and I didn't receive them until the end of 2013 after I moved across country to Las Vegas from Pennsylvania. They kept telling they were working on them. Don't get me wrong, if you don't have a time frame to complete your project, they do excellent work, they just take FOREVER

I heard from them a couple days ago about my order, another "2 weeks". Been that way since May. Covid excuses now.

Hello Group:

Its great that we can now post pictures on our new list server.  I am sure that will turn out to be very educational, witness the engine block identification from earlier today.  BOB:  GREAT JOB!

Has anyone had contact with SMS Auto Fabrics, since the Oregon wild fires came so close to Canby?  I e-mailed them earlier, about my door panels, with no response, so far.
