to clarify - I recall another email you circulated a few years ago on this same topic, in which I think your comment was that you spaced the F bumper guards farther back from the stainless trim and rear license plate surround, using shims. In your email today, are you suggesting repositioning the entire rear bumper, or simply the bumper guards?

When restoring an F I always space bumper back 1/2” with metal blocks so that a tap on rear bumper does not tip the bumper guards into the license frame and crack it . factory design error really ,way too close . light tap will break it . Today’s silver Toyota has lower bumpers too . ( most likely to bump you)
While I do get personal preference / keep stock etc , I think it looks a lot better without the bumper guards . They have a tacked on look to me ; a beautiful clean design on F tail . but to each his own . You do not notice bumper space back at all
