RE: {Chrysler 300} Fire by wire vs liquid fuel.

Here is a word of thought.

I live near the Twin cities in Minnesota after a 2” snow I parked my Chrysler Aspen in my heated pole barn the next morning the floor was white with salt. What do you think that will do to all the electronics in those cars and as far as car fires most of the time it is something electoral causing it. Here are some of things I have seen. Fuse block corroded causing the running lights to be on with everything off and the truck lockup.

At Mn/Dot where I worked we have dump trucks the throttle run by wire, the transmission is shift by wire after 3 years we were replacing the wire harness because the wires were corroded off. It can only get worse.

Nobody has said anything about the emissions the power plants are putting out. I have talked to my local salvage yard and they don’t want then because of the hazardous waste. I have heard the cost of replacing a battery is $9,000 - $14,000. I can burn a lot of gas fore that.

Other than the starter in your car and electric hand tools with universal motors and a few other specialized motors all electric motors are induction motors, no brushes or arcing. Even modern DC motors use ECM technology to run as induction motors.

If your Tesla catches fire after a wreck, call Tesla tech services to put out the fire.  Local FD cannot.  The car may even catch unquenchable fire up on the flatbed or at the salvage yard.  Stored energy with no place to go.  Can’t drain those kWh/BTU into a bucket.  At least on our 300’s, the tank can be drained and the battery cable removed by about anyone.  As many of us know!  I like the fact that our 300’s get lighter as we burn fuel—for just a little improved ton-miles/gallon.  Last I read my engineering handbook, electricity does not weigh much.  Einstein knows how much but you will never know.

I’m not a big Tesla fan either, I find them ugly and uncomfortable, but....if I can drive a car close to 1 million miles before worrying about battery replacement, the cost of that is not a deterrent. Don’t think I’d want it to sound like my Chrysler. Will they be trying to satisfy all of our senses by adding the aroma of partially unburnt 94 octane?

I think Tesla is missing the mark here.  They don't need a rumbling V-8 sound.  The sound they should use is from the Chrysler Turbine car from 1963.

Best idea would be to let the user select the appropriate engine sound to replace the silent electric motor. Kind of like you would select a unique ring tone on your phone. And you could switch it up, depending on who is in the car with you. :)

As many of you know Chrysler and Dodge are now part of Stellantis.

Their new CEO is speaking about the future of EVs and lack of sounds:

“One tricky part? Continuing to offer a signature sound to replace the rumble of a powerful V-8. "It's something we have to work on. There are solutions for that." Tavares noted that younger generations have a different perception of what makes for a powerful sound.”

Chrysler is one of the three historic brand pillars of Stellantis, the new company created by merging Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with the PSA Group.

Hi To All,

In the Northeast it is cold and it feels like it snows every other day.

While waiting for my second shot and spring, I was contacted by the Tesla owners’ group looking to develop an App to play significant engine sounds in their eerie and hauntingly quiet Tesla cabins.

I directed them to our Chrysler 300 Circus presentation on YouTube.

https://youtu.be/i2zVOdzBVG0

After viewing, they want to know which year Elephant and which year Lion would be best to add to their upcoming audio library on the new App.

So I am requesting your knowledgeable input as to what 300 letter cars are representative for the engine sounds for these poor Tesla owners that do not have properly sounding vehicles:

  1. Elephant (Hemi) powered 300 Letter Cars- Which Letter has the best engine sounds?
  2. Lion (Wedge) powered 300 Letter Cars- Which Letter has the best engine sounds?

The winner in each category will be visited by professional audio technicians to record their engine sounds.
