Re: {Chrysler 300} Events later this week -

Matthew and I made the trip up to Iola on Thursday, limited to spending a few hours before having to head back home.  We met up with Brian Frank on the way up and enjoyed spending some time checking out the car corral where we spotted a 55 C300, a couple of shark nose Grahams and other interesting cars for sale.  Then on to the swap meet, chatting with Mike Meier and friends and keeping an eye open for any interesting parts along the way.  Next was a walk through the car show with lots of interesting ones to see.  The final stop was the tent which was the center of the Forward Look universe in Wisconsin that weekend.  We were home, at least for a couple of hours, before we had to hit the road back to our real home in Illinois.  Nice to see and say our hellos to the usual suspects and meet some new ones, replenish our tummies and view some terrific automobiles on display around the tent.  The weather was exceptional, unusually cool for this event.  It would be great to get out to Carlisle one of these years.  Every few years Iola and Carlisle occur on different weekends.  Hope that happens again soon.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our Fall Meet!

Randy,
Forgot to mention - Mike Meier was also cruising around the grounds in his 280,000-mile white C coupe. I hitched a ride with him from the swap area to our tent. Mike was looking to have Don Garlits sign one of his air cleaners - don’t know if he did!

Hi Randy,

We had a wonderful weekend at Iola - best weather in memory! Smiles on everyone's faces to join up again under our big Mopar tent, though somewhat fewer Forward Looks this year than in the past.

As for Letter Cars, Bob Kelley cruised over in his black F coupe on Thursday, parking next to my white F coupe, Bob Brown's and George Collar's Lilac '60 Windsor convertible, and another couple's red over white '60 DeSoto coupe. Chris and Beth Cutts brought their black C coupe and pink/silver '58 Dodge Royal. Randy Guyer trailered in his beige '60 Sonoramic Commando Fury. Brad and Rhonda Paulson with friends Paul and Karen trailered in their black '69 Hemi Charger 500 and drove their silver '60 NYer ragtop, Rhonda's daily driver blue '70 Challenger R/T ragtop and white over red '60 Polara coupe with rams. Rhonda and Karen always see to it that we're all very well fed! Jim Jungwirth visited, but said his '55 300 is a couple years from roadability - looking forward to Jim joining us at our Fall Meet, with many of you! Brian Frank was there, sans his G with its brake booster out for repair, but his brother Bruce brought his white '59 Adventurer coupe and nephew David cruised in his black '59 FireFlite coupe. For those of you who will be in the Milwaukee area the weekend of July 29-31, David is hosting the National DeSoto Meet in suburban Milwaukee. Bob and George typically bring a few of their Letter Cars and other Forward Looks, but this year opted for just their '60 Windsor, a silver '59 Monterey ragtop, and their early Corvettes - a '53, '54, '60, '65. And, Chad Caldwell trailered up his beautifully restored white/mandarin '57 FireFlite ragtop from south of Atlanta. Chad is known to some Club members - Bob Brown and Andy Mikonis, and I'm guessing others.

I've never done Carlisle, though have given it some thought. I also found it interesting that the huge - ~18,000 virtually all US '50s and '60s car - Power Big Meet that I attended in Lidköping Sweden two years ago, was again prohibited from taking place last week, due to Covid. So we're indeed fortunate to be able to party together with our cars this year!

Noel/all,

I hope Iola had as nice a weekend/turnout as we did in Carlisle!  So glad I was able to make it for a few hours at least, even though my F still wasn't ready to make its debut...but at least I was able to enjoy looking at Gloria and Tony's Fs, as well as all the other great cars, and the wonderful people who brought them for everyone to enjoy!  Thank you again to Gloria for the personal tour of her F coupe, to Jamie and Tony for the CD and DVD, to Jerry for the fun stories, and also to the club member's wife who supplied the fantastic zucchini bread! Emoji Emoji  Looking forward to more Forward Look club activities sooner than later!

Best Regards,

With both Carlisle and Iola happening later this week, I'm hoping many Club members get out to enjoy those events.

I'll be cruising up to Wisconsin in my F on Wednesday, rain or shine, and attending the wonderful Iola event on Thursday and Friday. If you're planning on coming up, be sure to come to Gate 5, and visit us at the Mopar tent. If you're cruising up in your Letter or other Forward Look Car, we'll probably  make room for you to park and party with us!

From prior experience, cell service is very iffy up there. That said, my cell is (630) 747-7990.
