Re: {Chrysler 300} 300F voltage regulator?

Hi Folks

Thanks for all the input!

I went to my “old school” Napa in Damariscotta this afternoon [Note: the owner’s dad was a Korean War Doc who wrote the book MASH which lead to the movie and TV show.]

The VR 206 is still available at $68 and I ordered (it will take about a week to get from their house warehouse in Delaware) but not sure how long it will still be available according to Willie Hornberger.

BTW, For those of you that are fans of the movie and tv show:

Willie says his dad liked the movie but not the tv show….

Good Morning,

I'm no expert in the electronics of our cars, but offer the following observation. Both my F, and my Brand X '64 1/2 that I've owned for far longer than my F, are generator cars. I've purchased 5 generator regulators from auto parts stores and have found that none of them have been calibrated to the specs these cars call for. I've had a local buddy, who's unfortunately moving from here in Illinois to Phoenix, bench test and recalibrate all of these regulators for me. They work fine and I keep a spare for each car.

p.s. I'm still running dual points in my F, so don't know if that makes a difference vs. your electronic ignition.

It’s a generator car. I think the only alternator F’s were the 4 speed cars? It also has an electronic ignition with an MSD box and the voltage regulator appears to be the original.
It also has a brand new battery.

We haven’t installed a new regulator (hence my question) and I haven’t done anything to the old regulator except tap it a few times

Subject: {Chrysler 300} 300F voltage regulator?

Hi Folks

Our F seems to be hyper charging (even after a new battery) so I’m thinking it’s the voltage regulator. I did the old school “whack” on the unit several times but the charge as indicated on the dash is still on the high end.

I tried clicking on the Napa link on the home page but it seems to now redirect us to the general tech menu.

Anyway, any suggestions on the Napa part number or other suggestions?

Thanks!

Keith
