You didn't say year, but 60 up power boxes have a lot of play when unpressurized or off, far more than GM Saginaw boxes do.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} 300G power steering box

I am in the process of rebuilding my 300, The car was not running well when I bought it and therefor I do not have a feel for the condition of the steering. The wheel has at least 3" of play right to left with the engine out and no power steering pump attached. Should I assume the pump and box need a rebuild or wait until the engine is installed to test. Now would be the best time for access to the box. Thanks Richard
