RE: {Chrysler 300} 300F engine markings.

I spent my first 7 years at Chrysler working at the Windsor Engine plant.  We had a never ending supply of ink, in gallon jugs and a rainbow of colors.  It was common practice for individual machine operators to use this ink to identify their work.  I’ll bet when you tear this engine down, you will find all kinds of ink slash marks on the crankshaft, connecting rods and camshaft.  The ink was capable of resisting oil and outlasting the engine paint.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} 300F engine markings.

Hi all in 300 land.

Just wanted to share a discovery I made on a never apart 300F engine.

After cleaning the old grease/oil from the outside of the block, I can see what appears to be inspection marks? On LH side of block is a "10" and behind the fuel pump another mark, like an "X" with a horizontal line across it. The RH side of block has a very faint marking but I can't figure out what it is...

Anybody ever seen those before?

I have seen underbody markings before but never saw markings on an engine...

Jean-Yves.
