Re: {Chrysler 300} In need of '60-61 Plymouth quarter panel patches...

Dan,

Im looking for the lower rear mainly around the wheel openings. Black Car at one point made a patch before and aft the wheel opening, and they also made a whole lower quarter, but after talking to them, they mentioned they dont have anything "in stock" weird, as I thought they made them. Yeah, I thought the Dodges were similar, if not identical in those areas.

A word about aftermarket patch panels: They are usually poor quality. The vintage patch panels (Schott, etc.) that were produced in the 60s were deliberately created oversize so they could be slipped over rusty metal and then brazed into place. No good.

If you are doing anything more than an amateur restoration, you want to have metal cut from original, rust-free cars. Then butt-weld that in to replace the rusty sections.

If you are only doing rocker panels, then you may be able to get away with replacement rockers, since the curve is relatively easy to produce.

All,

Im sure some of you may be into the other Mopar brands, so I figured I'd ask here. I know this is a tall order, but Im looking for both left and right '60 or 61 Plymouth lower quarter patches (around the wheel lip etc...). Im not sure if the Dodges were similar from the same years.  Ive already tried contacting Black Car, and they cant help out at this point.

Thanks again for all the help,

Rob
