{Chrysler 300} 1962 300H rear window stainless installation

Hello -

I recently purchased a 300H and am in the process of replacing the rear window stainless trim.  I am having considerable difficulty installing the new trim and suspect it may be due to the window molding being rather hard (believe it is original).  There appear to be metal anchors between the window recess and the rubber that receive and clasp the inner ridge of the trim...I can't seem to get the anchors to clasp the trim.  I am beginning to wonder if the old trim was dented based on someone using a rubber mallet in frustration!

Appreciate any and all help/recommendations...I just joined the club and look forward to enjoying all things 300-related with the community.

Thanks,

Kurt
