Re: {Chrysler 300} 64 4 spd update

The most common cause of a problem with trans going in is someone stepped on the clutch with the trans out .
Happened to me when young , my brother did that playing in the car while I was rebuilding trans. I thought / knew it was perfectly aligned , I had just pulled it out   .

Big $ ( for me at 17) custom adapter bell housing casting , 392 to Packard od trans , I cracked it trying to pull with threaded rods that I was using as a support / guide . Lesson learned , although rods are a good idea as guides .
Of course if new clutch , it has to be aligned with tool or old trans shaft .

If you step on it , no trans the disc falls down . Arrgh

If you do indeed require use of a come-along, did you install a new pilot bearing?
If so, check to see that you didn't crush it slightly during installation.
Otherwise, Don is correct - trans  should easily slide in if your spline alignment is correct.

Hello All,

Wish I had room for lift in garage, not.

The K is 2 ft off garage floor and safely supported.
The new clutch is installed. And the rebuilt gear box is on low profile trans jack, ready for insertion.

All this work is difficult laying on one's backside.

I have created tendinitis in right ankle, strained left shoulder and muscles.

A good friend has offered help for completion of project.
I have a 1 ton come as long to tug trans into bearing and splines.

I will need him to crank ahead, while I support
Tailshaft for lineup

Recently retired, time is available to get it done.
I remember younger years with more muscle power.  Don't we all.

Will update progress.
Pray for peace.
