Re: {Chrysler 300} Clocks

Personally I would rather have a human heart transplanted rather than a mechanical one!  I guess I am just a purest.

Larry -

Having had a quartz conversion done on the clock for my 1957 300C over eight years ago, , I can attest that it is NOT a "cobble" or "crap" just because it has "new" innards - it looks exactly the same as original and operates accurately and reliably, which the original obviously did NOT do!  If you had a heart transplant or pacemaker installed, would you call that a "cobble" or "crap" just because it's not original?

You slide yourself into the car, the solid sound of the door closing and you hear the quiet tick-tick-tick of the clock just before you start the car, makes you want to make the extra effort to keep the mechanical clock movement……..when the clock works, that is.

Quartz conversion looks so wrong on our vintage cars. IMHO, Leave as-is. If you need to check the time, use watch or cellphone.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Clocks

Hi All,

My clock is dead. I cleaned it and checked the points, and it is still dead. What is the consensus if there is one…send out to be rebuilt stock or convert to quartz? Remember this is to be a daily driver.

Has anyone had a particular vendor they used and were happy with?

Thanks, James
