RE: {Chrysler 300} Radios

Can anyone confirm this is the front and rear speaker size for 1964?

There are distributors all over the US for the Aurora conversion. It is not cheap as with all the bells and whistles one is looking at $800 or more.

I had a ’64 that had the AM/FM Reverb and rear mount antenna.

I am looking for some practicality on this car.

What I really need to know is how much room is there behind the front speaker on a ’64. Would a larger coil mag fit?

In the rear I do not think it would be an issue. I am hoping someone has already gone down this path.

James,

This is a good discussion. I have a 65 300L with the AM/FM reverb setup and power rear antenna (which looks cool I might add). I would be interested in possibly gutting an AM radio and doing what you are saying there to have the AM and FM and Sirius XM and hands free phone options while driving. I will not do that to my factory AM/FM. I have several other 300Ls to do it with and some donor 4dr Chryslers for this.

You may also consider a rear power antenna setup like my 65 has. Again, I just think they are really cool.

Anybody have any suggestions on who would be able to do this conversion?

Thank you,

Rick

After discussing radios with my wife, remember daily driver and cross-country car, we decided to forgo rounding up an AM/FM with reverberator and instead have the AM radio gutted and the Aurora unit placed in it. We will also get two retro-sound two in one speakers and place one in the dash and one between the seats.

With all the bells and whistles, this will give is AM/FM and input for XM and Bluetooth. It will also take and make calls from a phone. It also will have HD radio.

I want to know if anyone has gone down this path with their 300?

Also, I plan on a fully retractable modern antenna and if anyone with a 1963 or 1964 has put one in the front fender, which did you use and how did it fit?

Thanks, James
