Re: {Chrysler 300} Radios

I tried a hearing aid to try to relieve the bad tinnitus I have in one ear. Like yours, it was bluetooth and (I'm assuming) controlled by my cell phone.

Well... The first time that phone rang and the ring echoed through that hearing aid into my head, that damn hearing aid came close to being thrown against the wall. I decided I'd rather figure out how to ignore the tinnitus and not deal with the hearing aid. I've had tinnitus for about 55 years and mostly can ignore it, but it has gotten worse with time.

My brother wears them from all his years hunting. He told me that his tinnitus only bothers him if he's reminded about it... So I'm sure to remind him about it when I see him. It's the kid brother in me getting even...

Hi Dave,
Too many years of Trucking noise.
I have the greatest (maybe second best) invertion for old folks, hearing aids. Not just hearing aids, but very small in the ears sound systems.
Besides the oblivious, they are bluetooth and my Phone and TV both play in my ears. I hear voices and music just fine.
Unless your ears are totally damaged, you might look into them. My Health Advantage Program paid for them,
Now if they could just create better eyes...
Not to mention something else...

Lets not lose sight of the fact that the Reverb function was an early attempt to add stereo without having the needed Radio signals.

What it actually did was to take what was playing on the dash radio and delay the signal and then play it on the rear speaker. So, it's a electronic trick, to fool your ears. Point being, it's interesting in itself, but not all that for long trips.

If your intention is to tour in your car, then do the conversion and enjoy modern sound from the Airways, your phone, or a player in the glove box or under the seat.

Your pride and joy is there to make your "Feel bad feel better", so do what aids that and note that it matters not at a Car Show.

I miss my "L" that I had for 49 years (with Reverb)

Hi Rick: Please keep in mind that you will NOT be able to use the reverb feature in your 300L if you put in a radio that is upgraded with the high power output feature, Sirus, etc. I am keeping my am/fm radio with the reverb option all stock in my 300L ht. I have done those conversions for years using the kits from antique radio out of florida which are no longer available.

This is a good discussion. I have a 65 300L with the AM/FM reverb setup and power rear antenna (which looks cool I might add). I would be interested in possibly gutting an AM radio and doing what you are saying there to have the AM and FM and Sirius XM and hands free phone options while driving. I will not do that to my factory AM/FM. I have several other 300Ls to do it with and some donor 4dr Chryslers for this.

You may also consider a rear power antenna setup like my 65 has. Again, I just think they are really cool.

Anybody have any suggestions on who would be able to do this conversion?

Thank you,

Rick
