RE: {Chrysler 300} 300K leather

Thanks Dave,

I see which method they used of the several available to create the pleating.

I cannot wait on Legendary until September.  I also need to rebuild the front door panels as the tops have worn through.

There is a debate going on in our house and with several of my classic car friends, who also have some concourse cars, as to if I should bother with leather or use the new state of the art micro-fiber faux leather.

This stuff wears very well and of course do not have the issue of hide waste.

Since the sides of the seats and all the other parts of the interior are vinyl, then it would be easier to just buy one vinyl for use on everything.

I always have my upholsterers when they make up seat pleats make up a spare set of the pleat sections to store just in case a seat needs to be repaired. Once set up and rolling it is not that big of a deal.

Thanks for the photos. Those combined with some measurements off members cars in the next month or so should be enough to get the job done.

James

I am referring to the actual stich style on the sewing machine. Pleats can be achieved with one of several stick types. I am trying to find out which one was used by Chrysler.

For a quick primer on the subject see:

300 K’s had a steel back side to them.

No fabric shows and the seam where the fabric goes under the steel shell is wrapped with a chromed metal trim piece

Anyone have a photo of the back side of a 300K leather seat? I want to see what kind of pleat they used. I want to know if they did a Flat Seam, French Seam or sew through for the pleating?

Thanks, James
