Re: {Chrysler 300} One of those funny little things...

Back in the 90's when I restored my first and only '55, I learned to scour junkyards for 4 door sedans, since those seats never folded forward.  I wondered how many rusty 4-doors with perfect horn rings were crushed while folks who were restoring 55 C300s or NYer convertibles were struggling to find horn rings.  I bought a couple of them for $10 each back in the day off of sedans about to be crushed.
Speaking of 'funny things', I dug into my G convertible the other day to top off the convertible top pump, which was getting a little noisy (like cavitation?) and operating slower than it had in the past.  No signs of any leakage, but I think I'm the first one to go into the unit in 62 years.  The factory shop manual points to the totally wrong screw for topping off the fluid.  It has an illustration with an arrow pointing to a screw which is obviously a mounting screw on the motor.  The filler screw is on the opposite end of the assembly, and there is a convenient hole stamped in the mounting bracket to allow use of a flat blade screwdriver to remove the filler screw for topping off the cylinder.  ;-)

Having the driver’s seatback tossed forward in a ’55-’56 Chrysler 2-door vehicle can break the fairly delicate horn ring.

I had forgotten that once you put a headrest on the driver’s seat of a ’64 that if you are not careful when you toss the seat back forward to get to something behind the seat it will set off the horn!

Perhaps I need to see if I can change so the horn is not live if the ignition if off.

One of those funny things that backs up the old saying that you can never do only one thing!
