Re: {Chrysler 300} 300F and G air cleaner decal placement ?

Hi all,

Well, I hate to throw cold water on the party, but, I bought my F from the original owner.  Within 2 miles of the Pasadena Meet.  The only thing that he changed was the color of the grill insert.  His son told me that his father wanted it to look like it was a jet and painted it red. I changed the color back to black, otherwise, I restored  the car as I found it, i.e., the decals on the air cleaners were both facing forward. Now, father and son flew back to Detroit to take delivery from the factory.  It may be possible the father saw the decals in different locations and, being  a stickler for details had the factory change the positions.  I know he had contact with Burt Bouwkamp as Burt gave him 2 booklets, one for the 300F and one for the 400 HP 300F stick, both of which I have.  He made a notation in one of them his contact information for future reference or problems.

Hi Keith,
Air cleaners are pre-assembled before they’re mounted on the carbs - so the decal placement is the same on every air cleaner - no differentiation between left and right.

So the right (passenger) side air cleaner, with its indentation clearing the firewall plenum. The decal on this right side air cleaner faces the front of the car.

The left air cleaner will therefore have its decal facing differently, with the air cleaner angled differently.
