{Chrysler 300} Re: Thump on extreme right turn of steering

I hope that someone with a "J" or a "K" has a lift and can take the measurements I asked for. This is the only way I can see if my idle arm is bent.

Thanks, James

I also thought of a 3rd possibility. A bent Idle arm would also position the bar higher.

If anyone has a 300 J or 300K on a lift...would you measure the distance from the underside of the bar to the center of the tie rod bolt stud on each side for me?

My left is about 1.5 inch, and my right is about 1.25 inch.

Thanks, James.

I have noted a sound when turning the wheel, like in parking, to the extreme right.

I got it on my lift a few minutes ago and I can see a mark on the torsion bar.  I put my machinist edge on the bar and it looks like it may have a slight bend.

When I measure the distance from the underside of the bar to the center of the tie rod bolt the side-to-side difference is Â¼ of an inch.  This should not be so and it not dependent on the ride height.

I can think of only two possibilities.  The first is that he new long center rod was not made correctly but visually it does not look like it is out a Â¼ of an inch. The other is that the lower control arm bushing is shot on the passenger side and thus allowing the torsion bar to drop down relative the tie rod.

Has anyone ever seen this issue?

THanks, James
