Noel and All

That is so sad. We fondly remember meeting him at the Pasadena Meet and he was truly a kind soul.

Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

Hello,

We lost a very dear friend today. I’m heartbroken to share the news that our Mick Maxwell, of Queensland Australia, passed away from an illness today. Mick's wife, April, sent the following email to Henry Mitchell today -

Hello my friends. My beautiful Michael died surrounded by his girls. Please can I ask you to pass this on to his beloved 300 club. Our hearts are broken.

Those of you who joined us at our Fall ’22 Meet in Pasadena and our Fall ’17 Meet in Lynchburg will remember Mick holding court and storytelling in his deep Aussie accent and colloquialisms. Mick traveled to Pasadena with his wife, April, following a whirlwind 5-week North American tour – Alaskan cruise, Washington D.C., Gettysburg and then L.A. area. Mick had attended our Lynchburg Meet with his daughter, Kelly. He said he would have liked to join us at our Fall ’21 Auburn Hills Meet, but that conflicted with Kelly’s wedding. April and Mick very recently fast forwarded the date of their second daughter’s wedding so he could celebrate it with their family and friends.

Mick loved life and loved his Mopars. His most recent acquisition, a couple years ago, was Al Vannice’s beautiful white F coupe that had been restored by our late friend John Hertog. Mick had a special appreciation for the ‘58s, with his Imperial and Plymouth, and 3 project cars – 2 Ds and a Plymouth. As early as this past March, Mick was exploring the purchase of a restored D.

Mick was also a ‘Piper’ – enjoyed playing the bagpipes with a retired military band around Australia and New Zealand. Said he was the youngest Piper in their band. He was scheduled to join them on a recent performing tour of New Caledonia, in the Pacific east of northern Australia and north of New Zealand, but that was not to be.

We’ll miss Mick. He was a beautiful human being. A photo of Mick and April in Pasadena is attached.

Noel
