I have just taken apart the oh-so-hard-to-reach distributor on my C-300 and inspected the centrifugal flyweights in the lower floor of the dizzy. They were full of crude and did not move well. After cleanup and liberally use of light oil for lubrication, the car now appears to have found another 20 hp and the stumbling and hesitation I earlier experienced on more than two-thirds of throttle has disappeared. Repair cost: nil besides the scarped knuckles from removing and installing the distributor.
On my car the front bowl is filled up while the rear is never more than 30% on idle, I still run the ceramic filters. Will investigate that next.

Thanks everyone for all the tips & potential issues to explore. 

By the way, this only happens under load. New fuel pump & filter were just installed last month.

I do notice the rear bowl remains about 3/4 full while the front bowl is a little less than a 1/4 full. While sitting idle, I do notice that there is fuel slightly spilling over into the front bowl.  Not sure if it should be more fill like the rear bowl.

I'll explore the various pointers everyone has shared and hope one of those will do the trick!

Could be shaft driving fuel pump is worn short and the prevents full stroke of fuel pump. I replaced the shaft and then no problem. The old one was about 3/8-1/2 inch shorter than the new one.

You can measure PSI with temporary tee rig driving — or let it idle on carb internal fuel with fuel feed line open through hose into pail  etc . There is a spec on pump flow GOM and psi should stay at 3- 4 or better driving 60

But to cut right to it , most likely is corrosion in gas tank clogging the nylon sock , or sock was removed in past rust travels then ruins fuel pump check valves  , bad fuel pump in general , clogged gas filter ( obvious?) .
Some  carbs have a mesh at inlet , although should never see dirt with in line filter 

Slight chance ignition points not right but that presents as an rpm skip more than a uniform bog

It doesn't sound like it could be an accelerator pump symptom, but maybe fuel starvation.Do you know your fuel pump is good? Does it only stumble under load, or in neutral too?

And don't forget your ignition - points, condenser, plug wires. And consider the coil as well.
