Re: {Chrysler 300} 300-F Exhaust

Regarding hangers

Last year I needed to replace a tail pipe and hanger. Our NAPA store dug out one of their old reference books which has illustrations of exhaust hangers and in turn had the one I needed.

I don't think they have any correct hangers. There are various clamps. The ones behind the mufflers are part of the hangers. There are small clamps holding the heat riser pipes together and I don't think anyone has the correct style. My 300F has head pipes that were made by the club a long time ago and the rest is from Waldron's. I had one incorrect tailpipe hanger and had to fabricate one. I also replaced the strapping on some hangers using belt material I got from Tractor Supply.

Here are pictures of my system. Make sure that Waldron's sends you the correct tailpipes. They sent me the wrong ones initially and the subsequent ones they sent me still don't fit right so I still have my originals on the car.

Getting ready to order new exhaust from Waldron.  Think I'm going with aluminized steel.   To my chagrin they have options in the order form for U-bolts/clamps, hangers and gaskets.  I would have thought these would be known quantities and be included.  The real question is what is the proper numbers.  My best guess is:
  • 8 sets of U-bolts and clamps
  • 4 gaskets??  (one at exhaust, one at flange joint - both sides?)
  • 6 hangars?  Really not sure about this one.
Anybody know the correct answers?  There will be a prize. (not really)
